Crash In Woodstock
There was a three-vehicle accident in Woodstock, Illinois on Monday night (March 3, 2014) that injured a Woodstock Police Officer.
According to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened at approximately 6:24 p.m. at the intersection of Route 14 and Dean Street in Woodstock.
According to preliminary details, a crash occurred when a Toyota Prius heading westbound on Route 14 attempted to turn left. In doing so, it collided with the Woodstock Police car, which was traveling eastbound on Route 14. In turn, the police car hit another vehicle, a Volkswagen, in the intersection.
The Woodstock Police Officer, identified as Eric Schmidtke, had to be extricated from his car, and he was first taken to Woodstock Hospital, and then flown to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Rockford.
The driver of the Prius, a 15-year-old, as well as an adult passenger, where both taken to Woodstock Hospital.
The driver of the Volkswagen was not injured during the accident.

Alcohol was not suspected as playing a role in the crash. The juvenile driver of the Toyota Prius was cited for Failure to Yield when Turning Left. The traffic crash is under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Unit.
