Crash Involving Semi And SUV In McHenry County, Illinois

There was a collision this morning (March 12, 2014) in Huntley involving a 2008 Ford Expedition SUV and a semi truck.

According to the Huntley Police Department, this crash happened at approximately 10:20 a.m., at the intersection of Route 47 and Kreutzer Road.

About 10:20 a.m a semi truck driven by a 44-year-old man from Sebastian, Texas was going south on Route 47 when it jackknifed and collided with the 2008 Ford Expedition driven by the Marengo woman who was going east on Kreutzer Road.

During the collision, both vehicles sustained substantial damage.  The woman driver of the SUV, identified only as a 40-year-old woman from Marengo, was taken via helicopter (Flight for Life) Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

The driver of the truck was also hospitalized.

Three-Vehicle Accident Injures Woodstock Police Officer

There was a three-vehicle accident in Woodstock, Illinois on Monday night (March 3, 2014) that injured a Woodstock Police Officer.

According to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened at approximately 6:24 p.m. at the intersection of Route 14 and Dean Street in Woodstock.

According to preliminary details, a crash occurred when a Toyota Prius heading westbound on Route 14 attempted to turn left.  In doing so, it collided with the Woodstock Police car, which was traveling eastbound on Route 14.  In turn, the police car hit another vehicle, a Volkswagen, in the intersection.

The Woodstock Police Officer, identified as Eric Schmidtke, had to be extricated from his car, and he was first taken to Woodstock Hospital, and then flown to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Rockford.

The driver of the Prius, a 15-year-old, as well as an adult passenger, where both taken to Woodstock Hospital.

The driver of the Volkswagen was not injured during the accident.

Alcohol was not suspected as playing a role in the crash.  The juvenile driver of the Toyota Prius was cited for Failure to Yield when Turning Left.  The traffic crash is under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Unit.

Two-Vehicle Accident Near Woodstock, Illinois

On Sunday, January 26, 2014, there was a two-vehicle accident in the 5400 block of Alden Road, near Woodstock, Illinois, in unincorporated Alden Township.

According to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, emergency crews responded at approximately 4:43 p.m.

An excerpt from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office news release of January 28, 2014, titled “Two-Vehicle Traffic Crash Results In Aggravated DUI Arrest” :

The investigation indicates that a 2013 Volkswagon Jetta was southbound Alden Road and a 2003 Honda Accord was northbound Alden Road.  The Jetta traveled into the opposite lane of traffic and the driver of the Honda tried to avoid the oncoming vehicle.  The Jetta collided with the Honda near the shoulder of the northbound lane of Alden Road.

At the end of the investigation into the collision, the driver of the Jetta faced charges including Aggravated DUI and DUI Drugs/Combination of Drugs.

Head-On Vehicle Collision Near Woodstock, Illinois

Vehicle Accident Near Woodstock, Illinois

There was a “head-on collision” on Saturday (January 25, 2014) at approximately 10:08 a.m.  This McHenry County vehicle accident happened near the intersection of Alden Road and McCauley Road, near Woodstock in unincorporated Hartland Township.

An excerpt from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office news release of January 27, 2014, titled “Sheriff’s Office Investigates A Two Vehicle Traffic Crash” :

Preliminary investigation indicated that a 2001 Chevrolet Blazer was travelling north and a 2006 Honda CRV travelling south on Alden Rd when the vehicles collided head on.

The two drivers of the vehicles were both taken in critical condition to local hospitals.  They have been identified as Ardene Raven, 77, of McHenry, and Vicki Rodriguez, 47, of Harvard.

According to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, weather and road conditions are suspected to be factors in this accident.

The crash continues to be under investigation.

Single Vehicle Crash In Unincorporated Spring Grove, Illinois

According to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, there was a single-vehicle accident on January 2, 2014, in unincorporated Spring Grove, Illinois.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded to this accident at 6:25 p.m.  The accident happened in the 6800 block of State Park Road, and involved a driver striking a vehicle parked along the roadway.

An excerpt from the January 3, 2013 media release from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, titled “Spring Grove Woman Arrested For DUI After Crash” :

Sheriff’s deputies arrived and met with the driver, Amanda Ducat, who had struck a vehicle parked alongside the road.  The investigation by deputies revealed that Ducat appeared to be under the influence of medications and drugs.  Ducat’s vehicle had also been called in to Fox Lake Police Department as a possible DUI driver.

Both Ducat and a juvenile passenger suffered minor injuries as a result of the crash and were taken to Centegra McHenry Hospital for evaluation.

According to the media release, the McHenry County Sheriff Department’s investigation resulted with Ducat being charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI).

Motorcycle Collides With Car In Woodstock

There was a fatal motorcycle accident yesterday afternoon (August 11, 2013) in Woodstock, Illinois.

The accident happened as the motorcyclist was riding east on U.S. Route 14.  At about 4:25 p.m., at the intersection of U.S. Route 14 and Dean Street, the motorcycle collided with a minivan driven by a Woodstock man who was attempting to turn left at the time.

According to Woodstock Police, both the motorcyclist and minivan were going through the red light at the time of the accident.

The motorcyclist was identified as Patrick J. Lulling, 54, of Arlington Heights.  He was pronounced dead at the accident scene.

The driver of the minivan, identified as Glenn L. Powers, was taken to a local hospital.  He was cited with failure to yield during a left turn at an intersection.
