On Saturday (October 30, 2021) evening there was a head-on crash near Hebron. This head-on crash near Hebron involved two vehicles, and occurred at the intersection of Route 47 and O’Brien Road in unincorporated Hebron.

The Hebron-Alden-Greenwood Fire Protection District and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office responded around 9:27 p.m. Saturday to the intersection of Route 47 and O’Brien Road in unincorporated Hebron for a vehicle crash.

Hebron Fire Chief Thomas Linneman said crews arrived to find two vehicles involved with heavy damage and people trapped.

A total of seven people were injured. Two medical helicopters were initially requested to the scene but only one was needed, Linneman said.

All seven people were hospitalized. According to an update provided by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, one of the drivers (of a 2019 Nissan sedan) was traveling eastbound on O’Brien and failed to yield at a stop sign. The Nissan then struck a 2020 Chevrolet Traverse that was traveling southbound on Route 47.

The driver of the Nissan, identified as Amber Gonzaque, 36, was cited for failure to yield at a stop sign.

This head-on crash near Hebron remains under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
