Fatal Traffic Collision In McHenry County

There was a fatal traffic collision Wednesday evening (November 23, 2016) in unincorporated Huntley.

According to preliminary information provided by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened on U.S. Route 20 at Harmony Road.  At 6:43 p.m., a 1999 Ford Expedition SUV, that was traveling northbound on U.S. Route 20, collided with a Hino box truck.  The Hino box truck had been traveling east on Harmony Road, and it did not stop for a stop sign.

The driver of the SUV, later identified as a John DiMauro, 54, of Woodstock, was taken to Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin for treatment of his accident injuries.  He was later pronounced dead.  At the time of the accident he was not wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the box truck, identified as a 24-year-old man from Chicago, was also taken to Advocate Sherman Hospital where he was treated and released.

This fatal McHenry County collision remains under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Crash Investigations Unit and the Kane County Coroner’s Office.

Multi-Vehicle Accident Near Huntley

There was a multi-car accident on I-90 near Huntley on Friday morning (January 9, 2015) which started when two semis “jackknifed.”  The Illinois State Police (ISP) says that at least ten vehicles were involved in the subsequent “chain reaction” accident.

The accident happened during “slick” road conditions caused by cold temperatures – in the single digits – and blowing snow.

According to the ISP, the accident happened at approximately 7:50 a.m. in the eastbound lanes near Illinois Route 47.

After the trucks jackknifed, “10 to 12 other accidents and incidents’’ happened, with motorists hitting walls, driving into ditches and spinning out, said Carlos.

No serious injuries were reported stemming from the accident.

Crash Involving Semi And SUV In McHenry County, Illinois

There was a collision this morning (March 12, 2014) in Huntley involving a 2008 Ford Expedition SUV and a semi truck.

According to the Huntley Police Department, this crash happened at approximately 10:20 a.m., at the intersection of Route 47 and Kreutzer Road.

An excerpt concerning this crash, from the March 12, 2014 Northwest Herald article titled “Flight for Life called after Huntley crash” :

About 10:20 a.m a semi truck driven by a 44-year-old man from Sebastian, Texas was going south on Route 47 when it jackknifed and collided with the 2008 Ford Expedition driven by the Marengo woman who was going east on Kreutzer Road.

During the collision, both vehicles sustained substantial damage.  The woman driver of the SUV, identified only as a 40-year-old woman from Marengo, was taken via helicopter (Flight for Life) Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

The driver of the truck was also hospitalized.
