Alden Township Car Crash Involving Two Cars Injures Five People

Two-Vehicle McHenry County Collision

There was a Alden Township car crash Thursday (November 22, 2018) afternoon involving two vehicles.  Five people were injured during this Alden Township car crash.

This McHenry County car accident happened at the intersection of Alden Road and O’Brien Road.  An excerpt regading the crash, from the November 24, 2018 Northwest Herald, quoting McHenry County Sheriff’s Deputy Sandra Rogers:

“A car with four occupants was northbound on Alden Road and did not have a stop sign. A SUV, with only one occupant, was traveling westbound on O’Brien and had a stop sign. The SUV failed to yield to the car, and the crash occurred at the intersection,” Rogers wrote.

All of the five people that were injured during this Alden Towship car crash had to be extricated from the vehicles.

Of the five people, one of the people was critically injured, and flown to Mercy Hospital in Rockford for treatment of accident injuries.

The four other people injured were taken to Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital, Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital, and Mercyhealth Hospital Medical Center in Harvard for medical treatment.

Unincorporated Marengo Township Collision On Route 176

McHenry County Fatal Car Collision

There was a fatal unincorporated Marengo Township collision late Friday (November 16, 2018) afternoon in which a driver died at the accident scene.  The accident involved a failure to yield.

According to information provided by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office (in the November 19, 2018 media release titled “Sheriff’s Office Investigates Fatal Traffic Crash” this unincorporated Marengo Township collision occurred at the intersection of Route 176 and North Union Road.  The Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash at 5:35 p.m.

An excerpt from the media release:

On Friday at 5:35 p.m., the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and the Marengo, Union, and Woodstock Fire Protection Districts all responded to the crash involving a 2008 Kia Rio and a 2007 Ford F-150.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the Kia, driven by the 40-year-old man, was traveling southbound on North Union Road and came to a stop sign.  The Ford, driven by an 80-year-old Marengo man, was traveling westbound on Route 176 and did not have a stop sign.  For unknown reasons the Kia failed to yield to the Ford and drove into the intersection where the vehicles collided.

The driver and sole occupant of the Kia was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and sole occupant of the Ford sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to Northwestern Hospital in Huntley.  All occupants were wearing seat belts and airbags deployed in both vehicles.  That area of Route 176 was closed for approximately 5 hours.

The driver of the Kia has so far only been identified as a 40-year-old man from Belvidere.

The accident investigation is being conducted by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Crash Investigations Unit and the McHenry County Coroners’ Office.

Hartland Township Two-Car Collision Injures Three People

McHenry County Two-Car Collision

There was a Hartland Township two-car collision on Sunday (November 4, 2018).  Three people were injured and taken to the hospital following the crash.

Details on this Hartland Township two-car collision appear somewhat limited.  The cause of this McHenry County car crash does not appear to be publicly disclosed at this time.

The accident happened at the intersection of Route 14 and Hughes Road and involved a Chrysler Sebring and a SUV.  The crash involved one vehicle “t-boning” the other vehicle at approximately 2:20 p.m.

Following the accident one vehicle occupant had to be extricated from a vehicle.

Of the three people injured, two people were taken to Mercy Hospital in Harvard for treatment of their accident injuries, and one person was taken to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital.
