Fatal Two-Car Crash In McHenry County

There was a fatal two-car collision in unincorporated Hebron early Thursday (January 18, 2018) morning.  The crash happened in the 9800 block of Route 173 and involved a frontal collision between the two cars.

According to information provided by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office (in a January 18, 2018 media release titled “Sheriff’s Office Investigation Second Fatal Traffic Accident“) first responders began to go to the accident scene at 12:17 a.m.

An excerpt from the media release:

The preliminary investigation indicated that a 2004 Mazda Tribute driven by a 20-year-old Woodstock woman was traveling eastbound on U.S. Route 173.  A 2010 Dodge Journey, driven by a 56- year-old Twin Lakes woman, was westbound on U.S. Route 173.  For unknown reasons the Mazda traveled into the westbound lane of traffic, where it collided with the Dodge.

A passenger in the front seat of the Mazda was declared dead after being taken to Mercy Hospital in Harvard.  The driver of the Mazda, as well as the driver of the Dodge, were both taken to Centegra Hospital in McHenry for treatment of their accident injuries.  The injuries were considered to be non-life-threatening in nature.

The accident investigation is being conducted by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Major Crash Investigation Unit and the McHenry County Coroner’s Office.

Collision Between Car And SUV In McHenry County

There was a fatal collision between a car and SUV Wednesday (January 17, 2018) evening in unincorporated Union.  The crash may have involved distracted driving.

According to information provided by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office (in a January 18, 2018 news release titled “Sheriff’s Office Investigating Fatal Crash“) first responders, including the Marengo and Union Fire Protection District and deputies from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, began to go the accident scene at 9:39 p.m.  The collision occurred in the 17000 block of Route 176.

The collision involved a 2005 Honda Civic, driven by a 27-year-old Rockford woman, and a 2007 Jeep Cherokee driven by a 24-year-old Marengo man.  An excerpt from the media release mentioned above:

The preliminary investigation indicated that a 2005 Honda Civic was traveling westbound on Route 176 veered for unknown reasons into the oncoming lane of traffic, where it collided with an eastbound 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The driver of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Jeep was transported by Marengo Rescue to Centegra Huntley Hospital.  He was later transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge where he remains in critical but stable condition. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.  It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were factors in the traffic crash. Cell phone use is suspected as a contributing factor in the crash.

This fatal McHenry County crash is being investigated by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Crash Investigation Unit, as well as the McHenry County Coroner’s Office.

“Head-On Collision” In Hebron Leads To Fatalities And Injuries

Fatal McHenry County Two-Car Collision

There was a fatal McHenry County car accident on Sunday afternoon (January 14, 2018) on Route 47 in Hebron.  The collision was a “head-on collision.”

According to McHenry County authorities, the accident involved a collision between two vehicles in the 7400 block of Route 47 at approximately 4:20 p.m.

An excerpt regarding the cause of the collision, from the Northwest Herald article of January 15, 2018 titled “Marengo man dead, Hebron woman dead in Route 47 car crash in Hebron“:

A 29-year-old woman from Hebron was traveling north in a 2009 Kia Rio and for unknown reasons crossed into the southbound lane of traffic, crashing into a 2005 Chevy Impala driven by a 42-year-old Marengo man, Rogers said.

The two drivers both died at the accident scene.  They were identified as Jose Rodriguez, 42, of Marengo, and Falynn Hironimus, 29, of Hebron.  At the time of the crash both were wearing seat belts.

At the time of the crash, Rodriguez was driving a Chevrolet Impala southbound. Hironimus was driving northbound in a Kia Rio.

The Chevy Impala had three other occupants from Marengo; a 39-year-old woman, a 12-year-old girl, and a 9-year-old girl.  The 39-year-old and 12-year-old were taken in critical condition to Centegra Hospital in McHenry for medical treatment.  The 9-year-old was taken to another hospital for treatment of accident injuries.

The accident investigation is being conducted by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.

Bus-SUV Collision Near Woodstock Injures Eight People

Bus-SUV Collision In McHenry County

There was a bus-SUV collision near Woodstock Thursday morning (January 11, 2018).  Eight people were injured in the accident.

The bus was a small bus and the SUV was identified as a Hyundai Santa Fe.

The accident happened just after 8:15 a.m. at Frankinville Road and Perkins Road.

The eight people injured were taken to various Centegra Hospitals for medical treatment.  The injuries were considered to be non-life-threatening in nature.

The accident, including its cause, remains under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.

Collision Between Two Cars On Route 120 Leads To Fatality

McHenry County Fatal Two-Car Collision

There was a two-car collision Saturday morning (January 6, 2018) after which one driver died from accident injuries.

According to authorities, the accident appears to have been a “head-on collision” that happened at approximately 9:30 a.m. in the 9400 block of Route 120 in rural Woodstock.  At that time, a woman, identified as Latricia E. Fish, 30, of Wisconsin, was traveling eastbound when another car crossed the centerline, thus striking her vehicle.

After being extricated from her car, she was taken to Centegra McHenry County Medical Center for treatment of her accident injuries.  She was pronounced dead in the afternoon.  According to the McHenry County Coroner, she died from blunt force trauma to the chest and extremities.

The driver and passenger  in the westbound vehicle that had reportedly crossed the centerline were also taken to Centegra McHenry County Medical Center for treatment of their accident injuries.

Both cars were heavily damaged in the crash.

First responders included Woodstock fire personnel and the Bull Valley Police Department.  The accident investigation continues.
