Fatal McHenry County Bicycle Accident

There was a fatal bicycle accident Tuesday night (August 15, 2017) in Woodstock.  The accident happened at the intersection of Route 47 and Route 14.

The accident happened as a bicyclist was riding northbound on Route 47 at approximately 7:33 p.m.  At that time, the bicyclist was struck by a 2007 Chevy Tahoe in the intersection of Route 47 and Route 14.

An excerpt from the Crystal Lake Patch article of August 16, 2017 titled “Bicyclist Killed In Crash At Route 47, Route 14 Intersection“:

A preliminary investigation shows James was heading north on his bike on Route 47 when he was struck by a 2007 Chevy Tahoe in the intersection of Route 47 and Route 14, according to a news release. The Tahoe was heading east on Route 47 and witnesses said the vehicle had a solid green light at the time of the crash, police said.

According to the McHenry County Coroner, the bicyclist was identified as Robert Amos James, 25, of Woodstock.  He was declared dead after being taken to Centegra Hospital in Woodstock.

Another excerpt, regarding the fatal accident injuries:

An autopsy performed on James revealed he died from blunt trauma to the head, chest and abdomen, Majewski said. Toxicology testing is pending.

The crash investigation continues.  At this time no citations have been issued in relation to the accident.

Fatal Algonquin Collision On Route 62

Fatal Vehicle Accident 

There was a fatal three-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon (August 13, 2017) on Route 62 in Algonquin.  Two women from Algonquin died.

The crash involved a “head-on collision” between two vehicles.

An excerpt regarding the crash, from the Daily Herald article of August 13, 2017, titled “Two women killed in Algonquin crash“:

A car was heading east at 3:12 p.m. when it crossed the centerline and hit two oncoming vehicles, according to a news release from Algonquin police. The collision occurred on the 900 block of East Algonquin Road between Sandbloom Road and Longwood Drive.

According to the McHenry County Coroner, one driver, later identified as Louise J. Schreiner, 78, whose westbound car was involved in the “head-on collision” was pronounced dead at the accident scene. The driver of the eastbound vehicle, later identified as Elizabeth A. Jay, 58, of Algonquin, was pronounced dead after being taken to Centegra Hospital in Huntley.

The driver of the third vehicle involved in the crash was taken to a hospital for treatment of accident injuries.

The accident investigation is being conducted by the McHenry County Coroner’s Office, Algonquin Police Department and the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team.
