Fatal Car Crash In McHenry County

There was a fatal car crash early Wednesday (January 18, 2017) in Algonquin.  The accident happened in the 900 block of West Algonquin Road.

The accident was a single-vehicle accident in which a Dodge Charger crashed into a utility pole on the north side of the road.  At the time of the accident the Charger was driving westbound.

Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District went to the accident scene at 1:40 a.m.  When they arrived the car was engulfed in flames.

The driver, later identified as Brandon Soriano-Saldana, 18, was found deceased within the vehicle.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle died “as a result of the collision and/or vehicle fire,” according to an Algonquin Police Department press release.

The accident remains under investigation by the Algonquin Police Department.

Public Works Employee Struck By SUV In Crystal Lake

Man Struck By Vehicle In Crystal Lake

An employee from the Crystal Lake Public Works Department was struck by a SUV Friday morning (January 13, 2017) in Crystal Lake.

According to Crystal Lake Police, the accident happened at approximately 8:46 a.m., on Miller Road east of Golf Course Road.

The accident involved a SUV, traveling eastbound on Miller Road, striking the employee, who was working on road repairs at the time.

The man was flown to an area hospital with severe injuries, police said. A woman driving the SUV was also transported to an area hospital with injuries that are not considered to be life threatening.

The accident investigation is being conducted by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.

Recently, both the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office as well as the Crystal Lake Police Department released results of holiday traffic safety enforcement campaigns.
