Unincorporated Woodstock Motorcycle Crash Injures Motorcyclist And Passenger

McHenry County Motorcycle Accident

There was a motorcycle accident Sunday (October 23, 2016) in unincorporated Woodstock in which the motorcyclist and passenger were injured.  The motorcyclist was subsequently charged with driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI.)

According to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, in an October 24, 2016 release titled “Motorcycle Crash In Woodstock Results In Serious Injuries,” the accident was reported at 2:14 p.m.   The motorcycle crash happened in the 16600 block of Garden Valley Road, which is in unincorporated Seneca Township.

An excerpt from the release:

Preliminary investigation indicates the 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle was headed east on Garden Valley Road, where it entered a curve, exited the roadway to the right and went into a ditch.  The motorcycle overturned, causing the driver and passenger to be ejected.

The male motorcyclist (Terrance M. Gospodarek, 56, of Elgin) was flown to Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford for treatment of accident injuries. The female passenger (a 47-year-old woman from Elgin) was also injured and flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

At the time of the collision, neither the motorcyclist or passenger was wearing a motorcycle helmet.

The driver is listed in stable condition. The passenger is listed in serious condition. The driver was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. Additional charges are pending.  The crash investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Crash Investigation Unit.

Fatal Car-Truck Collision In McHenry County

There was a fatal collision between a car and truck Monday (October 17, 2016) in unincorporated Woodstock.  The accident happened on Route 14 at Hartland Road.

According to information provided by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, in an October 17, 2016 media release titled “Two Vehicle Crash In Woodstock Results In A Fatality,” first responders went to the accident scene at 10:49 a.m.  The collision involved a Peterbilt semi truck and Chevy Cruze.

An excerpt:

Preliminary investigation indicates the semi-truck was headed northwest on Route 14 and the passenger car was south bound on Hartland Road.  The car stopped at the stop sign and proceeded into the intersection and into the path of the semi-truck. The semi-truck applied his brakes and swerved to avoid the collision without success.

The driver of the Chevy Cruze, a 29-year-old man from Spring Grove, died at the accident scene.  The driver of the semi, a 44-year-old man from North Dakota was not injured during the wreck.

The traffic accident investigation into this fatal crash is ongoing.  It is being conducted by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Crash Investigations Unit, with the assistance of the Illinois State Police Truck Enforcement Unit and the McHenry County Coroner’s Office.

Pedestrian Accident Injures Two People In McHenry

Pedestrian Accident In McHenry County

There was a pedestrian accident Sunday night (October 2, 2016) in McHenry.  The accident involved two pedestrians being struck by a pickup truck.

McHenry Police responded to the accident at approximately 9:11 p.m.  The accident scene was at the intersection of Riverside Drive and Pearl Street.

The driver of a 1997 Ford F150 pickup truck, identified as Richard V. Mure, 69, of Arizona, allegedly struck two pedestrians that were in a crosswalk.

The pedestrians, identified as a 30-year-old man and 23-year-old woman, were taken to Centegra Hospital in McHenry for treatment of their accident injuries.  While their accident injuries were not publicly disclosed, they were said to be in stable condition as of Monday (October 3, 2016) morning.
