Motorcycle Collision In McHenry County

There was a motorcycle accident Sunday afternoon (September 11, 2016) in unincorporated Nunda Township (McHenry County.)

According to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, in a September 12, 2016 media release titled “Sheriff’s Office Investigates Serious Injury Motorcycle Crash,” a preliminary investigation indicates that the motorcycle accident involved a “side swipe” crash involving two motorcycles.  The crash happened as two Harley-Davidson motorcycles were southbound on Roberts Road, south of Lamphere Road.

During the accident, both motorcycles lost control and overturned.  One of the motorcyclists, age 45 and from Wood Dale, was found unresponsive at the accident scene, and he was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center for treatment of his accident injuries, which were considered to be life-threatening in nature.

The other motorcyclist, identified as a 64-year-old man from Des Plaines, was treated at the accident scene.

The investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Traffic Crash Investigations Unit.  Members of the Island Lake and Tower Lakes Police Departments assisted with traffic control.

SUV-Motorcycle Collision In Lake in the Hills

Hit & Run Accident Injures Motorcyclist In McHenry County

There was a crash Tuesday evening (August 6, 2016) in Lake in the Hills that injured a motorcyclist.  The vehicle that struck the motorcycle fled the accident scene (i.e. the accident was a “hit & run accident.”)

Details on the accident appear limited at this time.  The cause of the accident does not appear to be publicly available at this time.

According to the Lake in the Hills Police Department, the accident happened at approximately 6:51 p.m.  At that time, a black SUV struck a motorcycle on eastbound Rakow Road, northwest of McHenry Avenue (at 6900 Rakow Road.)

The SUV then fled the accident scene.

The motorcyclist, identified as a 38-year-old man, was taken to Advocate Sherman Hospital for treatment of his accident injuries.

Fatal Collision On South Solon Road

Fatal Vehicle Collision In Unincorporated McHenry County

There was a fatal collision Saturday night (September 3, 2016) in unincorporated McHenry County.  Two people died as a result of the collision.

According to the McHenry County Coroner Dr. Anne Majewski, the collision happened on South Solon Road just north of Ringwood Road.

Details on the cause of the crash appear to be somewhat limited at this time.  As well, media sources offer differing accounts of the accident.

An excerpt from the Northwest Herald article of September 4, 2016 titled “Spring Grove couple killed in two-car collision,” referring to a news release from the McHenry County Coroner:

The driver, John S. Korkowski, 67, and his wife-passenger, Claire D. Korkowski, 59, of Spring Grove, were northbound on South Solon Road when their vehicle veered off the right side of the road. They re-entered the road in the southbound lanes, skidded sideways, and were struck by the second vehicle, according to the news release.

Both Korkowski and his wife were pronounced dead at the accident scene.

This fatal traffic accident remains under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Police Accident Investigation Unit.
