Fatal Single-Vehicle Crash In Spring Grove

Fatal Car Accident In McHenry County

There was a single-vehicle fatal car accident Sunday morning (June 26, 2016) that happened on Route 12 in Spring Grove.  The accident happened between Fox Lake Road and Sunset Road.

Information concerning the accident and its causes is largely limited.  It is being reported that the crash was reported by a passing motorist.

A 33-year-old woman was found dead at the accident scene.  She was identified by the McHenry County Coroner as Tanya M. McDonough, 33.  A male driver was transported to a hospital for treatment of his accident injuries.

The accident is being investigated by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department and the Spring Grove Police Department.

Lake in the Hills Motorcycle Crash Injures Rider

McHenry County Motorcycle Accident

There was a motorcycle accident Friday night (June 17, 2016) in Lake in the Hills in which a motorcyclist was injured and hospitalized.

According to the Lake in the Hills Police Department, the accident happened at 7:23 p.m., as a motorcyclist riding a Yamaha was heading northbound on Randall Road, just north of Village Road.

At that time, the motorcyclist struck (for a currently undisclosed reason) the back of a Jeep Wrangler.  As a result of the collision, the motorcyclist was ejected from the motorcycle.

The motorcyclist was identified as Dustin Dietz, 42, of Gilberts.  He was taken by the Crystal Lake Fire Department to Sherman Hospital for treatment of his accident injuries and then transferred to Lutheran General Hospital.

The accident continues to be under investigation by the Lake in the Hills Traffic Accident Investigation Unit.

Motorcycles Collide In Unincorporated Island Lake

There was a motorcycle accident Sunday night (June 12, 2016) in unincorporated Island Lake.  According to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, it is believed that this accident involved motorcycle riding after drinking.

According to a preliminary investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened at 6:18 p.m. on Roberts Road at Lamphere Road.  At that time, a motorcycle (a 2016 Harley) with a passenger struck the back of another motorcycle ahead of it as the motorcyclists were traveling southbound.

The motorcyclist that rear-ended the motorcycle in front of him was identified as John F. Hicks, 46, of Waukegan.  His passenger was identified as a 38-year-old female from Chicago.

They were both taken to Advocate Condell Hospital for treatment of their accident injuries.  Hicks was listed in critical condition.

The motorcyclist who was rear-ended was identified as a 45-year-old male from Antioch.  He was riding a 2011 Harley-Davidson.  He was not injured during the collision.

None of the individuals involved were wearing helmets and alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.   Hicks was issued two citations: Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident and DUI, a Class A Misdemeanor.

The traffic accident investigation is ongoing.

Motorcycle Accident In Unincorporated Harvard

There was a motorcycle crash Saturday evening (June 11, 2016) in unincorporated Harvard in which a motorcyclist sustained critical injuries.

According to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened at 6:51 p.m. in the 15000 block of McGuire Road.

At that time, according to a preliminary investigation, a motorcyclist riding a 2000 Harley Davidson lost control for currently unknown reasons as he was heading eastbound.  The motorcycle rolled over and the motorcyclist was ejected during the crash.

The motorcyclist, identified as a 53-year-old man from Harvard, was first taken to Mercy Harvard Hospital for treatment of his accident injuries, and then flown to Rockford Memorial Hospital.
