Crash Involving Three Cars In Crystal Lake

There was an accident in Crystal Lake Saturday afternoon (January 23, 2016) in which three vehicles were involved.

The accident happened at 4:18 p.m., according to Crystal Lake Police.

The accident involved a Ford Expedition traveling westbound on Route 14 making a left-hand turn, crashing into an eastbound Honda Accord at the intersection of Route 14 and Tracker Boulevard.  These two vehicles then collided with a third car.

Three people were hurt during the crash and taken to Centegra Hospital in Woodstock for treatment of their accident injuries.

The driver of the  Ford Expedition was cited after the accident for failure to yield.

Teen Injured During Crash In Unincorporated Richmond Township

There was a single-vehicle accident Monday night (January 18, 2016) in unincorporated Richmond Township.

According to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, in a January 19 release titled “Sheriff’s Office Investigates Juvenile In Critical Condition,” the accident happened Monday evening at approximately 9:05 p.m.  At that time, a 17-year-old driver from Richmond was driving a 2007 Toyota Matrix northbound in the 7400 block of Pioneer Road, and for some unspecified reason lost control of the car.

The car left the roadway, collided with a tree, and overturned onto its roof.

The driver was treated by the Richmond Fire Protection District before being flow via Flight For Life to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville for treatment of the accident injuries.  The driver was in critical condition.

Girl Struck By Pace Bus In Woodstock

A girl was struck by a Pace Bus in a Walmart parking lot Tuesday (January 12, 2016) afternoon in Woodstock.

The accident involved a Pace bus that was driving southbound in the parking lot when it struck a 7-year-old girl who was walking toward the store with a parent.  The Woodstock Walmart is at 1275 Lake Avenue.  According to Woodstock Police, first responders went to the accident scene at 3:17 p.m.

The girl was flown to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge for treatment of her accident injuries, after being taken to Centegra Hospital in Woodstock.

The bus driver was identified as Lynne R. Keller, of Huntley.

An excerpt from the Northwest Herald article of January 13, 2016, titled “7-year-old Woodstock girl hit by Pace bus at Wal-Mart released from hospital“:

Woodstock Police said they cited Keller for failure to use due care while operating a motor vehicle and failure to signal. Police said she is scheduled to appear in McHenry County court on Feb. 26.

Fatal “Head-On Collision” In Unincorporated Prairie Grove

There was a fatal “head-on” collision Monday evening (January 11, 2016) in unincorporated Prairie Grove.

According to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened Monday evening at 6:11 p.m.  The collision happened in the 2200 block of Illinois South Route 31.

An excerpt from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office media release of January 12, 2016, titled “Sheriff’s Office Investigates Two Vehicle Fatal Traffic Crash“:

Preliminary investigation indicated that a 2002 Cadillac Deville was traveling southbound on Illinois South Route 31 at 6:11p.m., Monday.  After the Cadillac overtook another vehicle traveling southbound, it lost control and entered the northbound lane where it collided with a northbound 2003 Mercury Mountaineer.

The driver of the Cadillac, identified as a 25-year-old Bartlett man, was pronounced dead after being taken to Centegra Hospital in McHenry.

The driver of the Mercury was identified as Colleen Dilone Victoriano, 51.  She was also taken to Centegra Hospital in McHenry for treatment of her accident injuries.

Ice And Snow Conditions On McHenry County Roadways

Overnight and early this morning (January 12, 2016) there were reports of many car and vehicle accidents in the Chicago area, including in McHenry County.

Many factors made for slick and “icy” roadway conditions.  The area generally got about 3″ inches of snowfall.  However, significant winds contributed to snow drifting and blowing onto roadways, thus making snow removal difficult.  The snow, combined with temperatures in the single digits, contributed to the slick conditions which led to many early-morning car accidents.  Many of these accidents included “spinouts” and “slideoffs” (i.e. where the vehicle slides off the roadway.

There was an accident Wednesday (January 6, 2016) in McHenry which involved a McHenry County Police car responding to a call.

First responders went to the accident scene at approximately 3:00 p.m.  The accident involved a collision between a police car and pickup truck at Front Street and Elm Street.

A 2008 GMC pickup truck traveling east on Elm Street collided with a 2011 Ford Crown Victoria McHenry police car that was traveling north on Front Street and turning to go west on Elm Street, McHenry Police Cmdr. Tom Walsh said.

The squad car was hit on the driver’s side in a T-bone collision, Harwood said.

According to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, at the time of the collision the squad car had emergency lights and sirens operating.

The driver of the truck was cited for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.
