“Head-On” Collision In Unincorporated Woodstock

McHenry County “Head-On” Collision

There was a “head-on collision” in McHenry County in unincorporated Woodstock on Monday morning, November 30, 2015.

According to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, in a November 30 media release titled “Sheriff’s Office Investigates Personal Injury Traffic Accident,” the accident involved two vehicles. and happened at approximately 8:50 a.m.  According to a preliminary investigation, at that time – for a reason currently unknown – a Pontiac Grand Prix traveling westbound on Route 176 drove onto the shoulder of the road, then went into the opposing lane of traffic.  In doing so, it struck a black Toyota Sienna.  The accident happened on Route 176 just west of Dean Street.

The drivers of both vehicles had to be extricated from their vehicles by firefighters.  The driver of the Sienna, identified as Maria Binotti, 46, of Marengo, was taken to Centegra Hospital in Woodstock for treatment of her accident injuries.  She was listed in stable condition later Monday.

The driver of the Grand Prix, identified as James Caldwell, 28, of Wonder Lake, was also taken to Centegra Hospital before being transferred to Lutheran General Hospital.  He was reported to be in serious to critical condition.

Other factors contributing to the crash are unknown at this time, but alcohol is not believed to be involved.

The investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Traffic Crash Investigations Unit.  Huntley, Woodstock, and Lakewood Fire Departments all assisted at the scene. Members of the Lakewood Police Departments assisted with traffic control.

Three Fatalities In Crash Near McHenry

Fatal McHenry County Car Crash

There was a fatal McHenry County car accident Friday afternoon (November 27, 2015) near McHenry.

The car crash happened at approximately 2:10 p.m., when, for an unknown reason, a 1994 Chevrolet Camaro left the roadway.  The accident happened at 1308 S. Lily Lake Road in McHenry, an unincorporated part of McHenry County.

After leaving the roadway, the car hit several trees and went down a ravine.  The car landed on the driver’s side door.

Three 18-year-old occupants were in the car.  Two were pronounced dead at the accident scene.  A third was taken to Centegra Hospital in McHenry and later pronounced dead.

Authorities identified the dead as Kelly Cronin of Island Lake, James Seward of McHenry and Promise Williamsen of Holiday Hills.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office has yet to determine a cause of the accident and the investigation continues.

Three Injuries In Richmond Collision

McHenry County Two-Car Accident

There was a two-car accident Thursday (November 26, 2015) in Richmond, Illinois.

This McHenry County crash happened at approximately 11:40 a.m., according to the Richmond Police Department.  The accident happened on Route 12, near Burlington Road.

An excerpt from the November 26, 2015 Northwest Herald article titled “3 people transported to hospital, 1 cited after Richmond crash“:

It appeared one car, driven by a woman out of Wisconsin, was going southwest on Burlington when it struck a vehicle heading north on Route 12, Baker said. The second vehicle’s occupants included a man and woman, both from Kane County.

The three people in the two vehicles were taken Centegra Hospital with injuries that were considered to be non-life-threatening in nature.

While, based upon information provided, it is unclear as to the cause of the collision, the woman from Wisconsin was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Car Rollover Crash In Lake in the Hills

McHenry County Car Rollover Accident

There was a rollover accident in Lake in the Hills on Sunday morning, November 15, 2015.

According to Lake in the Hills Police, they were called to the accident scene at Algonquin Road and Lake Drive at 6:34 a.m.

The accident happened after an Infinity sedan traveling eastbound on Algonquin Road left the roadway, hit trees and fencing, and then rolled onto its roof after traveling over an embankment.

The driver, Joaquin Trujillo, 31, of Carpentersville, was flown via Flight for Life to Advocate Condell Hospital in Libertyville for treatment of his accident injuries.  He was listed in critical condition.

There appears to be no currently known reason for the driver’s loss of control of the car.  The accident remains under investigation.
