Fatal Pedestrian Accident In McHenry County

There was a fatal pedestrian accident Wednesday morning (October 28, 2015) in McHenry.

According to McHenry Police, the accident happened as a man was crossing the street in the 1200 block of Green Street at approximately 6:40 a.m.

At that time, the man was struck by a 2002 Ford Ranger that was heading southbound.

The pedestrian, identified as Archie Horn, 71, of McHenry, was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville for treatment of his accident injuries.  He died shortly after arriving at the hospital.

According to McHenry Police, the driver of the pickup truck, Eric Baldridge, 24, of McHernry, was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

There was a fatal McHenry County rollover crash early Saturday (October 17, 2015) in Lake in the Hills.  Two men died as a result of the accident.

Details on the accident – especially its causes – appear somewhat limited at this time.

A Lake in the Hills police officer shortly after midnight came upon a vehicle that had rolled over several times and landed on its roof on Pyott Road, south of East Oak Street.  The vehicle, a 2014 Audi R8, had been traveling northbound on Pyott before it left the roadway and rolled over.

The driver, currently identified only as a male, was ejected from the car.  A male passenger was trapped inside the car.  Both men died at the accident scene.

Fatal Rollover Crash In Marengo

There was a fatal rollover accident early Saturday morning (October 17, 2015) in Marengo.

The crash happened just after midnight.  According to authorities, a 2009 Chevrolet Impala was heading north on Route 23, when he apparently lost control and drove into a ditch.  The car rolled over several times, and landed on its roof.

The driver of the car had to be extricated from the car.  He was pronounced dead at the accident scene.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Jason W. Learman, 45, of Woodstock.

The cause of this fatal accident is under investigation.

There was a motorcycle accident Tuesday evening (October 6, 2015) in McHenry.

An excerpt from the Northwest Herald article of October 9, 2015, titled “McHenry crash between motorcycle, Pace minibus remains under investigation“:

McHenry Police Cmdr. Thomas Walsh said the collision occurred when a 46-year-old man from Scottsdale, Arizona was driving south on Crystal Lake Road and a minibus being driven north on Crystal Lake Road by a 69-year-old man of McHenry turned left into a gas station south of Bull Valley Road.

The motorcyclist was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville for treatment of his accident injuries.  Those injuries were considered to be non-life-threatening in nature.

There was an Illinois motorcycle Saturday night (October 3, 2015) in unincorporated Prairie Grove.

According to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, the crash only involved the motorcycle, and it happened in the 3300 block of Wright Road.

An excerpt from the October 5, 2015 McHenry County Sheriff’s Office media release, titled “Sheriff’s Office Investigates Motorcycle Traffic Crash“:

Preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of the Harley Davidson, Todd M. Murray, 47, was operating a 1982 Harley Davidson and was traveling northbound on Wright Road at 10:32 p.m. when for unknown reasons the motorcycle exited the roadway and struck a culvert. Todd was transported to the Centegra Hospital McHenry by Nunda Rescue.

According to the media release mentioned above, “The driver was not wearing a helmet and alcohol is believed to be a factor of the crash.”

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Traffic Crash Investigations Unit continues to investigate the crash.
