There was a pedestrian accident Sunday afternoon (May 31, 2015) in Crystal Lake.

Details on this accident and especially its causes appear limited at this time.

According to the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue District, they responded to the accident at approximately 1:22 p.m.  The pedestrian accident happened at Barlina Road and Wimbleton Lane in Crystal Lake.

The pedestrian, identified only as a male, was taken to Centegra Hospital in Woodstock for treatment of accident injuries that were considered to be non-life-threatening in nature.

The driver was also taken to Centegra Hospital.

There was a two-vehicle crash Tuesday evening (May 26, 2015) in Crystal Lake.  The accident happened at Pingree Road and Three Oaks Road.

The Crystal Lake Fire Department responded to the accident at approximately 6:00 p.m.

Details as to the reason for the crash are not currently available.

Two people were taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington for treatment of their accident injuries.  The injuries were considered to be “non-life-threatening” in nature.

McHenry County Motorcycle Crash

There was a motorcycle accident Wednesday (May 20, 2015) in McHenry, Illinois.

Emergency crews responded to the accident after a report of a man lying in the roadway in the 1800 block of Richmond Road.

An excerpt from the Northwest Herald article of May 20, 2015 titled “Motorcyclist airlifted after crash in McHenry“, quoting McHenry Township Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Mike Majercik:

“The motorcyclist was traveling northbound. However, he was actually in the southbound lane,” Majercik said “He struck a metal sign post in the middle of the road and was ejected from his motorcycle.”

The motorcyclist was first taken to Centegra Hospital in McHenry for treatment of his accident injuries, and then flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

Fatal Pickup Truck Accident Near Harvard, Illinois

On Friday (May 8, 2015) there was a fatal accident involving a driver of a pickup truck.

The pickup truck was traveling on Paulson Road, near Route 14, at the time of the accident.  According to preliminary information from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, the truck veered left, then came back crossing the road, before it struck a tree.

The driver of the pickup truck was identified as Richard J. Shields, 58, of Harvard.  He was pronounced dead at the accident scene.

Fatal Motorcycle Collision In McHenry County

There was a motorcycle accident in an unincorporated area near McHenry on Thursday night, May 7, 2015.  The accident involved a motorcycle hitting a pedestrian.  The pedestrian later died.

Details on this motorcycle accident and its causes are somewhat limited at this time.

The accident happened in the 3900 block of Ringwood Road.   Thomas R. King, 66, of unincorporated McHenry, was apparently struck by a motorcycle at approximately 8:40 p.m. as he was near his mailbox.

King was later pronounced dead at the accident scene, according to the McHenry County Coroner Anne Majewski.

He [King] died of blunt force injuries to the chest, abdomen and pelvis, Majewski said.

Two people on the motorcycle, identified as the motorcycle driver, Michael Polanzi, 62, of McHenry; and passenger, Krystal L. Hyde, 28, of McHenry; were taken to McHenry Hospital-McHenry for treatment of their accident injuries.  The injuries were considered to be non-life-threatening in nature.

McHenry Township Battalion Chief David Harwood said the people on the motorcycle reported they believed they had struck a deer. After retracing the motorcycle’s path, emergency responders found a deceased man lying on the side of the road, Harwood said.

Fatal McHenry County Train Accident

There was a fatal train accident early Saturday (May 2, 2015) morning in Crystal Lake, Illinois.

According to Metra, an inbound train struck a person at approximately 6:20 a.m. near the Pingree Road station.

According to the McHenry County Coroner’s Office, the person struck has been identified as Timothy W. Puckett, 44, of Crystal Lake.

He was pronounced dead at 6:38 a.m.
